ندوة كتاب "تحديات الوجود المسيحي في المشرق"
ببركة وحضور صاحب الغبطة البطريرك يوحنّا العاشر بطريرك أنطاكية وسائر المشرق، وبمشاركة أسرة معهد القديس يوحنّا الدمشقي اللاهوتي، أقيمت في 27 آذار 2018 في مركز الشيخ نهيان للدراسات العربيّة وحوار الحضارات في جامعة البلمند، ندوة حول كتاب صاحب الغبطة "تحديات الوجود المسيحي في المشرق"، وذلك بمشاركة سماحة الشيخ الدكتور مالك الشعار مفتي طرابلس والشمال، والقس الدكتور حبيب بدر رئيس الكنيسة الانجيليّة الوطنيّة في لبنان، ومعالي الدكتور إبراهيم شمس الدين رئيس مؤسسة شمس الدين للحوار، والدكتور إيلي سالم رئيس جامعة البلمند، ومنسق الندوة الباحث والناشر الأستاذ أنطون سعد، وبحضور صاحب السيادة أفرام، متروبوليت طرابلس والكورة وتوابعهما، وصاحب السيادة قسطنطين (كيال)، أسقف الزبداني ورئيس دير مار الياس شويّا البطريركي، ولفيف من الكهنة والشيوخ والأساتذة والطلاب.
كانت البداية مع الدكتور إيلي سالم الذي أكّد بأنّ تحديات الوجود المسيحي تشكّل تحدّيًا للوجود الإسلامي أيضًا. أما سماحة الشيخ الشعار فأشار إلى أنَّ الحوار يحقّق التكامل فيما بيننا في إطار التنوع، مؤكدًا على أنّ الوجود المسيحي لا يقاس بالعدد ولا بالمؤسسات، بل بالأسبقية زمانًا ومكانًا في الشرق كلّه. كما أشاد سماحته بجامعة البلمند معتبرًا إياها صرحًا للحوار لدرء أخطار الفتن بين كل الأديان والملل. أما القس حبيب بدر فأشار إلى أنّ هذا الكتاب يعبر عن مسيرة صاحب الغبطة الرعويّة والبطريركيّة في زمن الشدة والضيق. وأشار الأستاذ شمس الدين إلى ضرورة الحوار، موضحًا أنَّ المسيحيين والمسلمين مشتركون في الثقافة والتاريخ وعبادة الإله الواحد.
أمّا الختام فكان مع صاحب الغبطة البطريرك يوحنّا العاشر، الذي شكر المشاركين في الندوة مؤكدًا أنّ على الانسان اليوم يدرك معنى وجوده الإنساني في رؤية وجه الآخر والتلاقي مع الآخر.
Book Seminar “The Challenges of the Christian Presence in the Orient.”
On Tuesday March 27, 2018, a seminar on the book titled “The Challenges of the Christian Presence in the Orient,” authored by His Beatitude Patriarch John X of Antioch and All the East, took place at Sheikh Nahyan Center for Arabic Studies & Intercultural Dialogue at the University of Balamand. The seminar was blessed by the presence of His Beatitude Patriarch John X, Sheikh Malek Shaar, Mufti of Tripoli and North Lebanon, Rev. Dr. Habib Badr, Senior Pastor of the National Evangelical Church of Beirut, His Excellency Former Minister Ibrahim Chamseddine, President of the Imam Shamsuddin Foundation for Dialogue, Dr. Elie Salem, President of the University of Balamand, and the coordinator of the seminar, Mr. Antoun Saad, a researcher and publisher. His Eminence Metropolitan Ephrem of Tripoli, Koura and Dependences, His Grace Bishop Constantine (Kayal), Bishop of Zabadani and Abbot of St. Elias Shwayya Patriarchal Monastery, various clergy, sheikhs, faculty and the family of the St. John of Damascus Institute of Theology were also present at this special event.
At the beginning, Dr. Elie Salem emphasized that the challenges of the Christian presence in the Orient form also a challenge to the Islamic presence as well. Sheikh Malek Shaar pointed out that dialogue achieves integration among us in the context of diversity. He stressed that the Christian presence cannot be measured by the extent of numbers and institutions, but rather by precedence in time and place in the entire East. Sheikh Malek Shaar also praised the University of Balamand as a venue for dialogue to ward off the dangers of conflicts among all religions and denominations. Rev. Dr. Habib Badr reflected on the pastoral work of His Beatitude in times of distress and challenges. His Excellency, Former Minster Ibrahim Chamseddine brought attention to the need for dialogue. He explained that Christians and Muslims are engaged in the same culture, history and worship of the One God.
At the end, His Beatitude expressed his gratitude for the participants. He stressed that man today understands the meaning of existence when he sees and meets the face of the other.
