Spiritual Retreat in the Beginning of Lent Feb 15-17, 2010 الخلوة الروحيّة
تضمن البرنامج الخدم الليتورجيّة اليومية في أوقاتها، بالاضافة الى حديثين توجيهيين اثنين. الحديث الأول للأب الحارث ابراهيم حول "المطالعة الروحيّة والبنيان الذاتي" الذي تكلم فيه عن السبل للمطالعة الروحية اليومية وفنّد القراءات بحسب الأولويات وأهمية أن تُوظف هذه المطالعة في منهاج الحياة اليومية. الحديث الثاني لصاحب السيادة المطران أفرام كرياكوس ميتروبوليت طرابلس والكورة الذي تكلّم حول "سر الاعتراف والاسترشاد الروحي" وتكلم عن أهمية اتخاذ الأب الروحي بهدف المتابعة الروحية والنمو في المسيح على الخصوص بالنسبة لطالب اللاهوت. وتضمن البرنامج أيضاً سهرتين روحيتين اثنتين حضّر لهما الدكتور فادي جورجي. اختتمت الخلوة في اليوم الثالث بالاشتراك بخدمة القدسات السابق تقديسها في كنيسة دير البلمند. شارك في الخلوة مع الطلاب الأساتذة والموظفين في المعهد. |
على عادته في بدء الصوم الاربعيني، أقام معهد القديس يوحنا الدمشقي اللاهوتي الخلوة الروحية ضمن برنامج خلوة روحية استمر لثلاثة أيام. Visit of Dr Eleni Kasselouri

Women in the Life of the Orthodox Church. Dr. Kasselouri is specialized in New Testament Hermeneutics and affiliated to the Volos Academy for Theological Studies. She has published two books in Greek on women in NT, she co-edited one in English and she published many biblical and theological articles in Greek, English and German.

New Academic Year Celebration

October 3-4, 2009 On Saturday, October 3, the St. John of Damascus Institute of Theology began its new academic year with a Great Vespers celebrated at the Monastery of Balamand Church. Archimandrite Isaac Barakat, the Abbot of the Balamand Monastery, presided over the service and the Choir of St. John of Damascus chanted. All the Faculty, staff, and students of the Institute, as well as the University of Balamand Officers joined in. On Sunday, Divine Liturgy was held and after the Divine Liturgy, everyone gathered in the Monastery's Hall to greet each other. After the Liturgy, the Faculty, students, and staff of the Institute of Theology held the Service of the Blessing of Water at the Institute of Theology. After the service, the Dean, Dr. Georges Nahas, addressed the students, greeting and welcoming them, and expressing his enthusiasm for the beginning of this year. Afterwards, the Institute family shared a meal together for the occasion.

End of Year Gathering

In the occasion of the end of the Academic Year, and at the end of the final exams, the Institute of Theology family (Faculty, Staff, & Students) gathered and prayed together the Supplications Prayer to the Theotokos at the Monastery of Balamand.
After prayer, the Dean addressed the students, encouraging them to use every moment of this summer in order to benefit spiritually, and to prepare academically for next year.
Afterwards, the Institute family had a meal together in a an atmosphere of thanksgiving. |
